MATCH REPORT | Hill of Beath Away

Full time result, Hill of Beath 1, Dundonald Bluebell 0.

A Fife derby with neighbouring towns is always going to be heated, cards are almost guaranteed to be shown. An unwanted result after a tough run for the Bell, suspecting a near two week break in fixtures (due to the weather) to be a factor in the performance tonight.

Some unfavourable decisions from the match officials certainly brings frustration in the game, but these should only be inconveniences and should not be a reason for losing discipline or motivation.

On the park there was energy, MCCULLOCH, LUMSDEN, LENNOX & STRANG all showing full commitment in their efforts tonight.

MCCULLOCH could be seen tussling with the opponents keeper after a corner one second then blocking a strike at centre back the next. Full commitment into some diving header clearances, blocking goal scoring chances for the opposition and a slide tackle which won the ball for us but almost cost MCCULLOCH a sore head as he flew through the barrier into the concrete.

LUMSDEN played well, swinging the ball into the box for some good opportunities at the net, as well as the usual very close free-kick.

LENNOX saving what seemed to be a guaranteed goal for the Haws.

STRANG again emptying his reserve tank to out pace and take on a full Haws defence on multiple occasions.

We were fortunate to only have lost by a single goal. At one point in the second half the Haws had 3 shots on target in threatening positions which were blocked only by bodies flung in front of the strike - a second late to this and it would have been a few extra for the Haws.

Clear work to be done by the Bell to increase the threat up front, not enough shots being released and certainly not enough going in.. Lets hope form returns, and we can climb up the table to make an impact on our league run, using the games in hand advantage which we have.
